The Global Clinical Practice Network (GCPN) is an international and multilingual network of mental health and primary care professionals, established by the World Health Organization’s Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. The GCPN was established as a core mechanism for the development of the classification of mental and behavioural disorders in the next version of WHO’s International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11).
GCPN members are part of a global community of professionals who have volunteered to lend their clinical expertise by reviewing materials, providing feedback about ideas and concepts that are being developed as part of the ICD-11, and participating in internet-based field studies. The information provided by GCPN members will directly influence WHO’s decisions about the structure and content of the new classification system, which in turn affect the activities of health professionals worldwide.
Your participation is critical in order to help ensure the clinical utility and global applicability of the new classification. The surveys or studies in which you are invited to participate will be based on your own professional interests, activities, and expertise. You will be asked to participate in such activities no more than once per month, and each survey or study will require no more than about 30 minutes of your time. You will never be asked to provide identifying information about your patients.
As of May 2016, over 12,600 health professionals from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, representing all global regions and 150 countries have registered to participate in the GCPN. We are actively recruiting members to the GCPN and aim to achieve a membership base of at least 10,000. Any mental health or primary care professional who has completed his or her training, and is qualified to practice in his or her country, is eligible to participate. GCPN registration takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
